One wet Winters day...

So, one miserable and rainy day, I had a little 4 year old who was driving me insane and needed to get out of the house. Fine. I grabbed our coats and gumboots and off we went to Ballam Park...

Due to the rain, the park was deserted, we had the place to ourselves. Might become 'our thing' to go to the park in the rain, it was awesome. Loki was able to play freely....

... while River giggled away in the pram...

Once Loki had had enough of the playground, we were able to explore other areas of the park...

We made some very cool discoveries...

We learnt about the life cycle of trees! I explained to Loki how the oak trees had dropped their acorns in Autumn, they lay on the ground over Winter, and now that Spring was coming they had begun to send out roots into the ground and sprout little leaves. Loki found this all very fascinating, and i felt so super awesome, that i could totally rock the whole homeschooling thing if we ever decided that it was for us.

We saw the signs of spring coming...

But who would have thought that Balam Park could be so beautiful even on a wet, wintery day...

We had such a great time, and I could see in Loki how enriching these experiences were for him...

My gorgeous, clever, gentle boy, who loves flowers and exploring in the rain xx

We collected some of the acorns to take home and continue our lesson...

Here is what they looked like that day, August 18th.

And here they are now...

Peace out xxx

Loki turned 4!

So, Loki turned 4, yes this was in June, but the blog has been neglected so just catching you up ;)

My first born loves Kung Fu Panda, his favourite soft toy which he takes to bed every night, is a panda, so of course i wasn't surprised when he asked for a panda cake. Gosh i wished he was having a party this year, how cool would a black and white themed panda party be?!?! So anyways, i set to work on the panda cake....

Chocolate cake for the head and limbs and vanilla butter cake for the belly.

Most of the icing done. I used butter icing, vailla for the white, cocoa for the 'black' (very dark brown).

and finished! so not what i imagined, lol, but my big four year old was stoked none the less, bless him.

It 'snowed' for Loki's birthday, well, very, very heavy hail. i hadn't seen hail like that since i was a kid, so of course Loki was in total awe of all the cold white stuff we saw when we went out for dinner with his grandparents that night. He was convinced it had to be snow, so of course, we made snowballs. And how cute is the panda beanie i got him for his birthday!?

'I am THIS many!'

Home again for cake.

Happy 4th Birthday Loki darling!

Nearly there... a Blessingway.

We are nearly there, i'm 38 weeks now, very tired and over it but all is well and i'm happy for bub to join us when he's ready. i've finally experienced Braxton Hicks, strange as they weren't painful at all, i was expecting sensations similar to what i felt when i was in early labour with Loki, but it wasn't like that at all, literally just felt like my uterus tightening, funny that, considering that's exactly whats happening, lol.

Well, i guess i should blog about my blessingway! considering it was a week ago! i'll let the pictures mostly speak for themselves, i was too overwhelmed by the vibe of the day to verbalise anything that would do it justice...

My beautiful friend, neighbour and birth attendant, Jenni, hosting the day.

A circle of women.

Just a few of the beautifully crafted quilt squares that were gifted to me. These will all be put together to make a blanket for my birth space.

I put everyone to work colouring in mandalas to make a collage,
more pretties for my birth space.

My henna belly, before, during and after.

My blessingway bounty! including beads for my blessingway necklace that i will wear in labor, quilt squares, mandalas, candles, affirmations flag, and the beautifully handcrafted blessings book made for me by Kint, everyone left me the most wonderfully inspiring and uplifting messages in it, i will treasure it forever.

Belly Buddies, Ebz and I, sharing a laugh and some afternoon tea.

My gorgeous boy, later that night, decided he needed a blessingway necklace too.

I want to thank everyone who came and contributed to the day, it was truely amazing.
